Dream Dragon’s Rest
by Mary Jo Oxrieder, Raven Rocks Studio
Story:
“Come Experience the Magic of the Sky! Fear of Heights Ended Forever!” Now there’s an odd heading for a vacation home, I thought. The view pictures were astounding, the rooms quaint and who couldn’t use a little magic? So we cheerfully scheduled a couple of weeks vacation. We were speechless as we walked the meadow path to the cabin half built into the hill – the world was spread out endlessly before us. Imagine our astonishment when we realized the hill and house ended abruptly at the cliff edge. Even with no fear of heights, stepping out the back door was the bravest thing I think I’ve ever done. The house was filled with dragon motifs and strange collections of feathers and shells and boxes we dared not open. Our nights were filled with delightfully vivid dreams of flight, glorious foreign realms, unimaginable insights. It was on the Solstice with a full moon that we discovered why the house was named Dream Dragon’s Rest!
